BC Chamber Network endorses Kamloops’ Business Resolutions

At the Annual General Meeting in Vancouver on May 20-22 members of the BC Chamber of Commerce voted to support four Kamloops policy resolutions brought by Kamloops members to improve business and community conditions not just locally but provincially and nationally.

This resounding support means the BC Chamber will work to advocate on the Kamloops Chamber’s behalf for changes in government policy to improve conditions for business to flourish and support a healthy community.

The four Kamloops policies include:

  1. Pension Reform for the Private Sector

This policy asks government to seek changes that create opportunities to level the playing field between public and private pensions in order that all Canadians can enjoy reasonable pension levels at retirement.

  1. Support for Proposed First Nation Property Ownership Act

This policy highlights the need for the Federal and Provincial governments to work with the First Nations Tax Commission and interested First Nations to develop and enact First Nation Property ownership legislation to unleash the potential wealth on-reserve lands.

  1. Elimination of Canada’s Capital Gains Tax

This policy asks that the Federal and Provincial governments eliminate the capital gains tax.

  1. Mobile Business License for all Municipal Governments in British Columbia

This policy asks that the Provincial government work with municipal governments to develop a plan and timeline to implement an efficient Mobile Business License Program.

Kamloops’ success at the BC Chamber this past weekend speaks to the power of the collective voice and the opportunity for members to influence government policy.  This is one of the many ways we can represent our members and contribute to our community,” says Policy Chair, Leslie Brochu.
